The Butternut Hill trail is a moderate to advanced loop that starts from Lovers Lane in Chester. From the parking lot (going clockwise) the trail ascends steeply and steadily after a short wooded walk along the road. At the top of Butternut Hill, there is a lookout point with two Adirondack chairs and views to the west -- a perfect place to stop and rest or have a picnic. Along the hike are many well-labeled tree species, a unique feature of the Butternut Hill Trail.
On the east side of the loop, the Connector Trail connects to the Lost Mine trail.
There is a geocache hidden near the summit that is well-cared for and adds some extra fun to the hike!
