Description

The Kilkenny Ridge trail leaves from the south end of the South Pond Recreation area, skirts the pond and heads into the forest. Just after it crosses Devil's Hopyard Stream, the Devil's Hopyard trail diverges to the right while the Kilkenny Ridge trails continues upward toward Roger's Ledge. The Devil's Hopyard Trail crosses the brook again and then enters Devil's Hopyard itself, a steep-walled canyon. The trail continues up the canyon over many moss and fern-covered boulders - take care not to slip on the rocks! Ice and cool air can be trapped in the boulders, which can create a natural air conditioning even in the summer months. The trail terminates at an almost vertical wall.
