Description

The Woodlawn ATV trail system winds for nearly 25 miles up and down the steep forested slopes of the mountains between Danby and Pawlet. The trails run along the ridge of Woodlawn Mountain and offer several scenic overlooks. Although there are no stream crossings, there are technical sections of ledge on the Woodlawn Mountain trail.

With trailhead access from both towns and many trails to choose from, Woodlawn Trails offers unending exciting possibilities suitable for beginner and skilled riders alike.

WRASC trails are open May 15 - October 1.

A Trail Access Decal is required to use this trail system. They can be purchased online.

Trail Manager

The West Rutland ATV Sportsman's Club (WRASC) is one of the largest local clubs of the Vermont ATV Sportsman's Association (VASA). WRASC maintains approximately 50 miles of Vermont ATV trails departing from three trailheads. WRASC schedules events throughout the year like club rides, poker runs, parades and cook outs.

Plan Ahead and Prepare
Avoid hypothermia, even in warm weather, by limiting your sweat and exposure to cold water. Bring warm and dry clothes in case the shivers set in.

Trailhead Information

Pawlet Trailhead: From Pawlet, take VT-30 south approximately 1 mile, then take a left turn onto Towslee Hill Road. Parking is located on the right approximately 150 feet past the turn. Please note, there is a closed green gate that appears locked here. This however can be opened by simply unlatching the clip. Please close and clip the chain to the gate behind you.

Danby Trailhead: From Danby, take Danby Mountain Road south for 4.2 miles, then turn left onto Scallop Drive/Baldwin Lane. Travel 0.6 miles to the end of Baldwin Lane and park in the small clearing at the trailhead. Please note this trailhead is secured by a locked gate. The combination is 4882. Please close and lock the gate behind you.
