Description

The Silent Cliff Trail is spur off the Long Trail, 0.4 miles north of VT-125/Middlebury Gap. The blue-blazed trail proceeds 0.4 miles to the east, leading to Silent Cave and Silent Cliff. From the cliff, Monastery Gap, the Green Mountains beyond, and the Middlebury College Snow Bowl are visible to the south.

Trailhead Information

From VT-100 in Hancock, go 6 miles west on VT-125 to the Long Trail crossing over VT-125. From Ripton, go 5.5 miles east on VT-125 to the Long Trail crossing, 0.8 miles east of the Middlebury College Snow Bowl. There is room to park on the south side of VT-125 at the Long Trail crossing. The trailhead for the Silent Cliff trail is a 0.4 mile hike north along the Long Trail from VT-125.

Nice short hike with great views of the valley towards Middlebury. As of 9/30/22 dry and no blowdowns!
