The trail is within the Roy Marsh Wildlife Management Area, owned and managed by the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department. As a WMA, hunting, fishing and trapping activities are prioritized. Public use of the trail for walking is accommodated as long as users do not conflict with the preservation of fish and wildlife habitat or hunting, fishing or trapping.
The trail is flat, and varies between 3 and 6 feet wide. The trail is a great place to go birding, and is frequently used by the Audubon Society for spring bird walks.
VT F&W has a contract with the Town of South Hero to maintain the trail for recreational use. The town organized volunteer work days, in partnership with South Hero Land Trust, to remove downed trees and keep the trail corridor clear.
Hours: dawn to dusk
Dogs: welcome but must be leashed at all times.
