This property includes the summit of Rose Mountain, which offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. The trails to the summit are moderate to strenuous, and range from 2-4 miles depending on the entrance you take.
The Summit Trail (1.3 miles) begins on the Lyndeborough Town Forest property. After 0.3 miles in the Town Forest, the trail enters PLC property. Yellow diamonds lead up the steep trail up to the summit of Rose Mountain (elevation 1,720 feet). Explore the summit for great views, including the summit view trail. The summit trail continues north (down the opposite side) to a northern trail connecting to French Road.
The Pinnacle/Helen Trail (1.8 miles) connects Rose Mountain to Lyndeborough Mountain and the Pinnacle. This trail can be accessed off of Mountain Road.
The Cut Thru Trail (0.25 miles) connects to the Summit Trail from Scout Road. This trail is very steep.
The Northern Trail (0.6 miles) leaves PLC property and connects with French Road. This is a very steep trail with erosion and areas of thick vegetation.

HELEN'S TRAIL/THE PINNACLE
From the east, head 1.1 miles south on Mountain Road from its junction with Greenfield Road. The trailhead is on west side of the road, and cars may be parked along the road.
SCOUT ROAD/TOWN FOREST TRAIL
From the south, take Center Road to Pinnacle Road on the left. Go 1.9 miles to Scout Road on the right. There is a small parking area on the right side of Scout Road. The last 0.25 miles of Pinnacle Road and all of Scout Road are unmaintained class VI roads. Due to road erosion, driving to the parking lot can be treacherous. Please use caution. 4WD is required. Parking along the maintained section of Pinnacle Road is an alternative option.
Scout Road and the last 0.25 miles of Pinnacle Road are not maintained in winter, and there is very limited parking along the maintained section of Pinnacle Road. In winter, PLC recommends the longer hike to the summit via Helen’s Trail which is accessed from Mountain Road.
