Description

The loop is accessed by hiking 0.4 miles north on Old Jackson Road (also the Appalachian Trail) from the Pinkham Notch Visitor Center, and then an additional 0.2 miles east on the Crew Cut Trail to its intersection with the George's Gorge Trail. The recommended direction is to loop clockwise. At the beginning of the loop at this intersection on the Crew Cut Trail, the Gorge's Gorge Trail heads to the north (left) up along a brook, climbing steeply at times, and crossing the brook twice.

After 0.5 miles the George's Gorge Trail meets up with the Liebeskind Loop Trail, heading east (right). The Liebeskind Loop descends to a swamp before rising back up to Brad's Bluff, a cliff with good views of Pinkham Notch. The trail runs along the cliff briefly before descending to a small gorge and then to a notch in the ridge. At this point there is a 0.1 mile spur trail leading to Lila's Ledge, which offers excellent views of Pinkham Notch and Mount Washington. Just past the spur trail the Liebeskind Loop meets the Crew Cut Trail, which to the west returns to the starting point of the loop at the junction of the Crew Cut and George's Gorge Trail. A hike from the Visitor Center, around the loop, and back to the Visitor Center makes for a total hiking distance of 2.8 miles.
