There are two trails at Eagle Point WMA.
From a parking area on the right side of T-17, there is a short, grassy trail to a wildlife viewing platform. From the platform, you can see much of a wetland area of Hall's Creek with opportunities to spot herons, bitterns, snipe, pied-billed grebes, rails, common moorhens, and marsh wrens.
The Nature Trail leaves from the turn around on Eagle Point Farm Road and crosses through the fields, over a couple small bridges that cross wet spots and into the woods. It then loops into the forest before connecting back to Eagle Point Road, which you can follow back to your car. The trail passes through habitat managed for grassland birds such as bobolinks, savannah sparrows and field sparrow. The open areas also are good habitat for raptors such as northern harriers and kestrels. Of course, near the lake you may also see bald eagles, the reason for the name of the WMA!
There is also a hand carry boat access to Hall's Creek and Lake Mamphremagog just south of the parking area for the wildlife viewing platform.
The Eagle Point WMA was donated to the US Fish and Wildlife Service in order to conserve the land and provide access to the public. It is managed through partnership by the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife. A parcel on the other side of the Canadian border was donated by the same landowner to the Province of Quebec for the same purposes.
Wildlife Management Areas are managed to protect, manage, and conserve the fish, wildlife, vegetation and other natural and cultural resources of Vermont.
