This 6-trail network, accessible from Waterville Valley's Town Square features Mad River Path, Mikes Dream, Pond Loop XC, Rivers Edge Trail, Tyler Spring Path, and Village Trail XC.
Mad River Path (0.9 miles) connects Inner Mad River XC to W. Branch Road and winds along the scenic Mad River. There are two steep stairs and dangerous stepping-stones, which make this otherwise easy trail, difficult for small children and unsteady elders.
Mikes Dream (0.3 miles) connects Osceola Road to W. Branch Road.
Pond Loop XC (1.0 mile) circles Corcoran Pond from Town Square. This trail is groomed for skiing in the winter. Please do not walk in the ski tracks.
Rivers Edge Trail (0.8 miles) connects Cleanwater Lane to the Sandwich Mountain/Drakes Brook parking lot on NH-49.
Tyler Spring Path (0.6 miles) connects Inner Mad River XC to Snows Brook Road.
Village Trail XC (0.7 miles) connects Town Square to Cleanwater Lane. This trail is groomed for skiing in the winter. Please do not walk in the ski tracks.
There is also a short section of Inner Mad River XC that connects Village Trail XC to the Mad River Path and Tyler Spring Path.
All six trails can be combined into a 4.5-mile trek. This route begins at Waterville Valley's Ice Arena and ends at the Sandwich Mountain/Drakes Brook parking lot on NH-49. From the Ice Arena, circle Corcoran Pond on the Pond Loop XC Trail. At the town beach, take the Village Trail XC through the tunnel under Snows Brook Road to Inner Mad River XC Trail and turn right over a bridge. Just before a second bridge head uphill on Tyler Spring Path winding up and down always keeping the Mad River on your left. The trail turns right uphill between condo parking lots and exits onto Snows Brook Road. Turn left and left again on Osceola Road. Opposite Rey Lane, turn left downhill on Mikes Dream and at the Mad River turn right to W. Branch Road. Turn left across the bridge and left on Mad River Path following it to Inner Mad River XC Trail. Turn left over two bridges and right on Village Trail XC along the Mad River. Pass Cleanwater Lane, now on Rivers Edge Trail, and go underneath Tripoli Road to Waterville Campground. Turn right on the paved road and right again when the pavement ends. At the dead end at Drakes Brook turn left and scramble up over the guard rails across NH-49 to the Sandwich Mountain/Drakes Brook parking lot on your left.
Note: In winter, pets are not allowed on groomed Pond Loop XC, Inner Mad River XC, and Village Trail XC.
