Description

This trail network passes by the Great Brook and the Kidder Brook multiple times, providing views of picturesque falls and jumbled rocks.

Dura Crockett Trail - The Dura Crocket trail climbs 380 feet in 0.8 miles from the intersection with the Great Brook Trail. There are great loop possibilities when this trail is combined with the Great Brook and Morgan Hill Trails.

Great Brook Trail - The Great Brook Trail follows the course of Great Brook and offers views of water cascading down steep ledge in two locations, which are particularly impressive with increased water flows in the spring. A beaver dam is located at the top of the trail at Devils Half Acre Pond. It climbs 760 feet in 2.3 miles (one way).

Kidder Brook Trail - The Kidder Brook Trail leaves the parking area at the Kidder Brook bridge on Twin Lake Villa Road in Springfield. It crosses the stone bridge and ascends along Kidder Brook.

Kidder Trail - The Kidder Trail leaves the parking area at the end of Morgan Hill Road. It ascends, together with the Morgan Hill Loop Trail, reaching the intersection of these two trails at about 0.1 mile. The Kidder Trail continues straight ahead, climbs for another 0.1 mile then descends, crosses the New London - Springfield town line, and continues descending to Perley Road where, at 0.9 miles, it meets the Morgan Pond Trail. There are many cascades and pools along the trail and an old dam/mill site about 0.1 mile beyond the power line.

Morgan Hill Trail - The Morgan Hill Trail descends from its start at the end of Morgan Hill Road to the Great Brook Trail passing intersections with the Morgan Hill Loop Trail and the Dura Crockett Trail. It descends 200 feet in 1.1 miles (one way).

Morgan Pond Trail - The Morgan Pond Trail is a good trail for cross country skiing. The Morgan Pond Trail leaves the Twin Lake Villa Road east of the parking area and Kidder Brook bridge. It ascends along Perley Road (gated) for 2.8 miles to a side road which it descends to Morgan Pond dam. The trail provides access to a cart road which provides a loop with the Kidder Brook Trail, the Kidder Trail, and to the Greenway. The Morgan Pond Trail rises nearly 600 feet to the high point above Morgan Pond.
