From the trailhead at Journey’s End Road, continue past the boulders and the trail heads west on the now-abandoned woods road. The trail ascends gently, and after 0.5 miles reaches a small clearing at the original location of Journey's End Camp (removed in 2004). Past the small clearing, the trail bears right to cross a sizable brook, before rejoining the old road again to some stone foundations, the remnants of an old farm settlement. The trail turns left here and ascends gradually northwest.
0.8 miles from the trailhead, a spur trail leads to the current Journey's End Camp. Past the spur to the camp, the trail continues uphill, crossing several old woods roads, to the USA-Canada border swath. It parallels the border to the northern terminus of the Long Trail.

Green Mountain ClubFrom North Troy, follow the gravel North Jay Road west and then south 2.6 miles to a junction with narrow, unpaved Journey’s End Road opposite a dairy barn. Turn right and follow this road west. Or, from VT-105, follow the North Jay Road 2.0 miles north to the same road and turn left. This rough road leads 1.2 miles west, mostly uphill, to a log landing where there is plenty of space to park. Bear right and descend 0.1 mile more on a narrower road to a smaller trailhead parking area, with boulders at the end of the road. Use caution on this road, which is sometimes used for local logging operations. During springtime (through June), road conditions may be poor. The parking lot is not plowed in the winter.
