The Little Deer Mountain trail shares a trailhead with the Osmore Pond loop trail. From the trailhead, the trail travels south past the picnic shelter and along the shore of the pond. At the far southern end of Osmore Pond, Little Deer Mountain Trail departs the pond loop trail and climbs steeply to the ridge of Little Deer Mountain. Good views of Lake Groton and surrounding mountains are visible to the south.
