Description

HIGH USE TRAIL:

This is a busy trail system, especially on weekends between 9AM-4PM. Consider visiting outside of peak periods. Use Trail Finder to identify other nearby trails. If the parking lot is full when you arrive, please choose another trail. Be considerate of your fellow trail enthusiasts - pass at safe distances, wear masks, and move on from viewpoints if others are waiting.

Colchester Pond welcomes hikers, anglers, paddlers, skaters, ice fisherman, birders, and naturalists. The Loop Trail circumnavigates the pond and provides varied terrain. There are short climbs up hills in the woods, areas where the trail is right by the water, and a section across open fields. The trail becomes steep through the woods northwest and northeast of the pond. At the northern end of the pond, there is a short spur trail that leads to the shore. It is mildly steep southwest of the pond and eventually runs through open fields. The trail is very well marked.

Please stay on designated trails out of respect for the park's wildlife and neighbors. A private road joins the loop trail southwest of the pond. This is not for public use.

Swimming: The shore is muddy and shallow, but once in, the water is fine. There is no beach.
