From east to west, the Town Link trail is split into three contiguous sections: the State Park Road section, the Melissa & Trevor Mack Memorial Trail and the Co-housing section.
The State Park Road section is a crushed gravel, multi-use trail built in the fall of 2020 that connects Mt. Philo State Park to the rest of the Town Link Trail. It is 8 feet wide for most of its alignment, with one short portion that narrows between the road and a drainage. The path has mostly gentle slopes, with the exception of two short hills on either side of the narrow section. There are nice views of Mt. Philo to the east and the Champlain valley to the west, including Lake Champlain and the Adirondack mountains. The path goes through farm land and woods. While the path parallels State Park Road, it is separated from the roadway.
The Melissa & Trevor Mack Trail passes through working fields and vineyards between Route 7 and State Park Road.
The Co-housing section continues west after the underpass under Route 7 and travels through field and forest before arriving at Common Way.
Many thanks to the citizens of Charlotte for supporting the construction of this trail!
The Charlotte Trails Committee asks that all users stay on the trails and off of private property bordering the trails, keep dogs from straying into neighboring yards, clean up after pets, and respect the privacy of the landowners who have generously allowed trail easements on their land.

Charlotte Trails CommitteeThe eastern trailhead is located at the intersection of Mt. Philo Road and State Park Road in Charlotte, VT. That intersection is slightly more than 1/2 mile east of the intersection of Route 7 and State Park Road. The trail begins immediately west of the Mt. Philo State Park entrance, across Mt. Philo Road. A state park entrance fee is required if you park at the Mt. Philo State Park parking lot between late May and mid-October.
To reach the western trailhead from the Charlotte west village center, drive south on Greenbush Road for 1.3 miles. Turn east onto Common Way. In about 0.3 miles, there is a sign directing you to a parking area on the left. Park your car, then continue walking east on Common Way for a few minutes. On the right you will see the entrance for the trail marked by a Charlotte Link Trail sign.
