Volunteers are at the core of the Trail Finder's knowledge base. Help this project expand!
As part of our continuing effort to build Vermont's most comprehensive trail guide, the Trail Finder is expanding to Franklin and Lamoille Counties this year! We are looking for volunteers who live in those areas to help us survey trails. Surveying involves collecting GPS data, notes, and photos that we'll then upload to the site. It's easy and fun. Anyone can participate and you'll help make this free resource better! If you'd like to get involved, please contact Todd Taylor: todd@localmotion.org.
Volunteers can sign-out a GPS unit from a centrally-located hub in each county. Call ahead to see if a unit is available on the date(s) you'd like to survey your trails then plan on returning the unit within a few days.

Already own a GPS? Great! We can accept data from many different models, even from smartphones. Determine whether you can download data off your device and send a sample to todd@localmotion.org to test for compatibility and accuracy.
Here is a collection of documents for volunteers that are ready to begin data collection. An Information Collection Worksheet is needed for each trail. You may print out a copy to fill-in by hand or you may fill-out this form electronically. Before proceeding, you may find it useful to review the training presentation to the right.
