Trailhead: From Burlington, take North Winooski Avenue north to Riverside Avenue. At traffic light, turn left onto Intervale Road. Continue on 0.5 mile, crossing the train tracks and passing Gardener's Supply. You'll find a parking area on the right just after the road turns to dirt.
The trail may also be accessed from the north, near Ethan Allen Homestead. Take the Rt. 127 ramp to Ethan Allen Homestead and find a small parking lot just to the right. The trail is to the right of the parking lot.
Description:
Find Vermont's natural beauty within Burlington City limits! The trail through the Intervale is a prized gem for walkers, bikers and runners looking for peace from city traffic. Berry picking in the summer, skiing in the winter. The trail meanders along the Winooski River and along the borders of organic farm fields.
Winter XC Skiing: Cross country ski trails are being groomed in the Intervale during the 2009-2010 season. Check www.localmotion.org/ski for up-to-date snow conditions and trail map.

Although it floods in spring once in a while, this route makes perhaps the best urban running route in Burlington by connecting to the lakefront bikepath.

I stood dumbfounded the first time I was here this winter. Had I teleported to the countryside from Vermont's biggest city? Good for relaxation, not for exciting off road riding.

The new cross-country ski trails are a blast, and the flatness of the area is perfect. Great workout, close to home - please keep up the grooming!

The trails that around the Intervale, and Ethan Allen homestead are rather flat. although nice for a walk after work, not that great or exciting, while most of the scenery is swampy-like.

This is a great spot to get out of the "city life" yet not have to get into your car and drive anywhere. Nice trails for walking, running or biking. Some peaceful areas can be found near the Winooski River.
