EXPANDED TRAIL FINDER LAUNCHED FOR FALL FOLIAGE SEASON!
Looking for a perfect outdoor fall adventure? There is now an easy way to search over 200 Vermont trails for the perfect autumn hiking or biking experience.
The Upper Valley Trails Alliance, Central Vermont Regional Planning Commission and Rutland Area Physical Activity Coalition have joined Local Motion to launch an expanded online Trail Finder on September 28 at www.trailfinder.info.
Over four years in development with 100 volunteers, the Trail Finder is a free online resource with now over 200 walking, biking, hiking, mountain biking and skiing trails in Vermont…and now New Hampshire. Residents and visitors can get maps and directions, learn about the trails’ features, see photos and submit comments.
Thank You! The Trail Finder is a collaborative venture engaging over 85 stakeholders – towns, trail managers, tourism entities and regional planning organizations. Special thanks to Skirack – the project's 2010 underwriting sponsor. Thanks also to Chittenden County Metropolitan Planning Organization, Federal Highway Administration, Upper Valley Heal, Lake Champlain Basin Program, LL Bean, Merchants Bank, Vermont Community Foundation, Vermont Recreation Trails Program, VTrans, West Lebanon Wal-Mart and the many volunteers for their support.
Mobile Application Coming for Summer 2011!
Starting on National Trails Day June 4, 2011, Vermont residents and visitors will be able to use their smart phones as trail maps. This same Trail Finder will have an easy-to-use mobile interface so that outdoor enthusiasts can get a map, submit trail photos, or report a maintenance issue right on the trail. Thanks to volunteers and funding from the Chittenden Co. Metropolitan Planning Organization, this project is currently underway.
